How to Update Device Drivers

There are two ways to update drivers.

How to Install Drivers

After you have found the right driver, follow these simple instructions to install it.

  1. Power off your device.
  2. Disconnect the device from your computer.
  3. Reconnect the device and power it on.
  4. Double click the driver download to extract it.
  5. If a language option is given, select your language.
  6. Follow the directions on the installation program screen.
  7. Reboot your computer.

I so pleased that you were able to use my post. So far I have not refilled any Canon Cartridges as I have been able to find an ample supply on Amazon (cartridges and the actual printhead: I've found that the printhead tends to plug and become unusable after a time and no amount of cleaning will fix it).

As regards connection to Windows 10 machines. My Canon Bubble Jet is a BJC-55 which came with a USB port and an IrDA port; thus, I had no problem using a USB cable to both print and scan. I do have a legacy Citizen PN60 which only comes with a DB25 IEEE-1284 (parallel) port. My Windows 10 machine will happily print to it using an HDE 3FT USB to DB25 adapter cable. (Available for roughly US$7.00 from Amazon - see:

IrDA is another matter. I have a Windows 7 machine. In WIN7 my old IrDA/USB adapter (which you can't seem to buy any more) will allow my BJC-55 and the IrDA version of the Citizen PN60i to print over IrDA - no problem. I have not tried to scan through the BJC-55.

NOW - I have gone blue in the face trying to make IrDA work in Windows 10. (I've even asked Microsoft to look into this, but all I got from them is a 'dial tone.' I note that some people have made IrDA work on WIN10, but so far NOT FOR PRINTERS.
